About the Journal

Aims and Scope

Journal of Sleep Disorders and Medical Care (JSDMC) recognises that to study and manage proper sleep, behavioural dimensions of normal and irregular sleep mechanisms, the prevention, evaluation, clinical diagnosis and therapy of sleep dysfunctions, we need to understand the science behind them. That implies learning the regulation of sleep-wake-behaviour, human circadian rhythms and neurobehavioral effects, Sleep Physiology and associated mechanisms. Moreover, JSDMC wishes to contribute to bridging the gap between scientific research and the application of sound science in Sleep Medicine, Sleep Physiology, Psychiatry, Chronobiology and Neuropsychology.

The Editors will focus on studies that involve carefully selected reports that provide a link between multiple disciplines and Sleep Medicine. JSDMC is specifically interested in sleep-related disorders, management of associated behavioural and emotional problems and improved care or treatment of fatigue, health and occupational safety risks resulting from sleep disorders or sleep deprivation. The editors support the dissemination of unique solutions to challenging scientific and Public Health questions related with studies of Sleep Medicine. Also, the journal welcomes as well molecular and genetic approaches to the study of sleep and circadian rhythm disorders to advancing the comprehension of the mechanisms, diagnosis and treatments for abnormal sleep conditions.

JSDMC is dedicated to publishing material of research on Sleep Health-oriented approaches, normal sleep experience, Epidemiology of sleep habits and sleep disorders while preventing or delaying the onset of sleep-related pathologies in the population. Also, the journal concentrates on sleep-dependent aspects of cognition sleep-dependent learning, and clinical outcome research. Such papers will be interesting to an audience of clinicians and research professionals specialising in sleep-related disorders, coming from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, including Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Otolaryngology, Psychiatry, Neurology, General Medicine and Psychology. Most likely, the readership of JSDMC will be involved in the practice of fundamental, Medical, Social and Experimental Sciences.

The Editors pursues contributions which prioritise distinction, originality, reduction to practice, accuracy, focus and appeal to the readership. Presumably, scientists in all disciplines related to Sleep Medicine and various professionals devoted to Clinical Practice and Research, Public Health, Social and Behavioural Sciences in the broadest sense will engage as authors of JSDMC articles. JSDMC employs a rigorous peer-review and editing process to evaluate manuscripts for scientific sharpness, innovation, and significance. Editors will weight as well the Sleep Medicine, Health Science and Clinical Practice worth of its diverse content.

Call for submissions

JSDMC publishes articles of original, interdisciplinary, and applied research. The Editor actively encourages manuscripts from scientists and professionals across diverse sleep-related fields, including Anthropology, Education, Behavioural Sciences, Psychology, Fatigue Management, Sociology, Social Work, Nutrition, Health Services Research Nursing, Social Work, and Nutrition. Centred research articles on a comprehensive range of topics as well as clinical trials and experimental papers may be submitted. Moreover, contributors may present original high-level scientific articles, critical reviews, and case reports. Fields covered and integrated by JSDMC include:
