Biography

Dr. Donald V Belsitois the Leonard C Harber Professor of Dermatology, Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY. Prior to this, he was an Associate Professor of Dermatology and Pathology at New York University (New York, NY) and Professor and Chair of the Division of Dermatology at the University of Kansas Medical Center (Kansas City, KS). His research interests include occupational dermatoses, contact and atopic dermatitis, and other immune-mediated dermatologic disorders.

Dr. Belsito graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University (Washington, DC) with BS degrees in biology and chemistry. He received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College (New York, NY), where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. After completing an internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University Hospital (Cleveland OH), he undertook his dermatology residency and fellowship in dermatologic immunology at New York University Medical Center (New York, NY). He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Dermatology, and the American Board of Dermatology, Special Qualifying Examination in Dermatological Immunology.

Dr. Belsito is a member and immediate past-President of the North American Contact Dermatitis Group and a founding member and former President of the American Contact Dermatitis Society. He actively participates in several other dermatologic societies, in which he has served on numerous committees. He sits on the Cosmetic Ingredient Review’s Expert Panel and is chair of the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials’ Expert Panel. He has received numerous national and international honors and serves on the editorial boards of Dermatitis, Contact Dermatitis, Dermatology & Therapy, and the Online Textbook of Dermatology and previously was on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is author of more than 200 articles published in peer-reviewed journals and more than 50 invited reviews and textbook chapters.
