Biography

A first generation Sicilian woman, I was born and brought up in Quincy, Massachusetts. I have one brother, am happily married for twenty-eight years, and am so very proud of my two wonderfully successful adult sons.
Dentistry has been a love of mine and in my blood since I was a young girl when at age fourteen I began to work in the Dental Practice that I owned many years later. I graduated from Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene and Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and a Chemistry minor; both schools granting me highest of honors. In 1980, I left Tufts University School of Dental Medicine with my D.M.D. and after working a short time as an associate, I became a full partner at Dental Associates of Quincy until the early 1990’s. Due to an almost fatal car accident years earlier, I was forced to give up my clinical dental practice in 1992, as I have paresthesia in both of my hands and arms.
I began my academic career at Tufts in 1996. I work solely in the Pre-clinical arena, teaching in most of the Pre-clinical courses, and directing several of them. I have won many awards and honors for teaching excellence. I am now a full Professor, a faculty mentor, and I am on the Board of Directors of the Tufts Dental Alumni Association. I have positions on most of the Standing Committees in the Dental school. I have just begun to incorporate Learning Calalytics in my Dental Anatomy Course, in fact I am the first faculty member to explore this teaching tool.
I am now actively involved in two research projects that focus on Dental Education and Student Well-being.
