Biography

Raymond “Bob” Rowland is a professor in the Diagnostic Medicine and Pathobiology department of Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Rowland’s current research interests center on addressing fundamental problems in infectious diseases caused by emerging pig viruses. The current focus is on molecular mechanisms of diseases caused by porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) and porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2). Related research includes the control of PRRS in the field and the development of novel detection methods for domestic and foreign animal diseases.Rowland is co-director of the PRRS Host Genetics Consortium (PHGC) and executive director of the North American and international PRRS symposia.
