Research Interest

Dr. Rameshwar’s lab studies hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem cell. The lab also studies breast cancer dormancy and has developed a working hierarchy of breast cancer, beginning with the initiating stem cell. The lab continues to study the neural regulation of hematopoiesis.

The lab has been able to generate electrophysiologically functional neurons with human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells, and is involved in robust studies to understand how mesenchymal stem cells interact with the microenvironment to modulate the immune response. Dr. Rameshwar also studies healthy aging of stem cell.
