Biography

Dr. Rameshwar is currently a tenured professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Dept of medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology. She received a B.S. degree in medical microbiology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wi and Ph.D. from Rutgers University. Dr. Rameshwar began her career in stem cell biology during her doctoral thesis when she was involved in some of the seminal research on the neural-hematopoietic axis. This area of research continued as a postdoctoral fellow in hematopoiesis at New Jersey Medical School. 

Dr. Rameshwar has developed a series of educational graduate courses in stem cell biology. She initiated a certificate program in Stem Cell Biology. The graduate courses include a more comprehensive class in stem cell biology and the translational implication, a course in advance stem cell, graduate level course in hematopoiesis and a graduate class in cancer stem cell.

Rutgers school of biomedical health sciences (Newark Campus) has a student-run stem cell educational society. Dr. Rameshwar oversees the educational endeavor of the group. The students are strictly educational and do not advocate for any stem cell. 

Dr. Rameshwar is also a Master Educator. She has trained several doctoral students, including those in the physician scientist track. She is an advocate of mentoring junior faculty members. Dr. Rameshwar has edited books, authored >200 publications, which include original articles, reviews, editorials and book chapters
