Biography

I was born in Northern California, attended High School in Yuba City, California, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences from UC Davis in 1987. Subsequently, I completed a Teaching Credential Program at Sacramento State University and taught high school science courses in Benicia, California before being accepted into the Doctoral Program in Microbiology at UC Davis in 1995.  After receiving my Ph.D., in 2001, I completed five years of post-doctoral training in Dr. Satya Dandekar’s laboratory in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at UC Davis. I received a faculty appointment as a Research Microbiologist in the Dept. of Medical Microbiology and Immunology in 2006.
