Research Interest

My research and academic interests have centered on applying chemical engineering techniques to biological/environmental biotechnology systems and biochemical/biomolecular engineering and environmental biotechnology education.

Research findings are translated to industry via innovative process plant design and optimisation. Holistic treatment systems, often combining chemical and biochemical treatment process are integrated into a complete and economically viable treatment option.

Biotechnology Applications:

Yeast Metabolism, Recombinant Protein Products, Monoclonal Antibody Production, Food/Health Products, Beauty Products.

Environmental Applications:

Bioaerosols, Biological Nutrient Removal, Sequencing Batch Reactor, Biosensors for BOD, Phosphate, Nitrate and Acetate, Biofiltration, Bioleaching, Electronic Wastes, BioMEMS and Nanotechnology (Bioaerosol and contaminant measurement using micro devices, catalyst development for bioaerosol destruction)

Bioengineering:

Process Systems Engineering (Modeling and Optimisation)
Bioprocessing and Bioengineering Education:
Simulations (Plant Economics, Fed-Batch Culture. Biochemical Thermodynamics, Undergraduate Core Education - Fluid Flow, Thermodynamics)
