Teaching Narrative
I am committed and capable of teaching immunology and parasitology to the next generation of scientists and clinicians. My experience has centered upon undergraduate and graduate students and junior-level postdocs. Given my background, I have considerable expertise in teaching concepts pertaining to host-pathogen interactions. During my time at UCSF, I have served as a discussion leader in several courses for UCSF graduate students and medical students. I enjoy the mentor-mentee relationship and have a strong interest in mentoring students from diverse and under-represented backgrounds. I have also continued to enhance my leadership/mentorship skills by completing the Scientific Leadership and Management training course at the Gladstone Institute and have already reaped the rewards of this type of training. In the future, I look forward to participating in the UCSF/CORO Faculty Leadership Collaborative.
