Biography

Huda Mustafa Al Hourani is an associate professor in the department of clinical nutrition and dietetics at the Hashemite University in Jordan as well as the chairperson for the last three years. She holds a PhD in Nutrition from Oxford Brookes University and she is recognized as a registered nutritionist from the UK Nutrition Society. Dr. Al Hourani has more than 20 years of experience in the field of nutrition and dietetics; she was the owner of nutrition counseling center in Amman/Jordan responsible for planning appropriate diets for clients who are suffering from chronic diseases such diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Dr. Al Hourani has worked in the academic field in different universities and taught many courses in nutrition and dietetics for undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervised the training programs of her students in the same field and supervised master theses in the field of nutrition. Dr Al Hourani has engaged in many courses and  training workshops in collaboration with World Health Organization, Food and Agricultural organization Ministry of Health, Hospitals and Universities, and she is recognized by the WHO as a Regional Facilitator for the WHO new growth standards. Her current research on type 2 diabetes mellitus and its risk factors in collaboration with Lund university/Sweden Dr Al Hourani has published many papers on obesity and its relation to diabetes mellitus and breast cancer international journals.
