Biography

Prof ÇALIŞ has graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Pharmacy and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Hacettepe University. She studied in USA, University of Kentucy, College of Pharmacy in Lexington during the years of 1991-1993 as post-doc on a project entitled as “Development and Evaluation of Biodegradable Microspheres for Peptide Delivery”.Dr. ÇALIŞ was appointed as an Assistant Professor in 1992 at Hacettepe University and received the titles of Associate and Full Professor in 1994 and 2002, respectively from the same University. Prof ÇALIŞ is currently working as a Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology, in Hacettepe University, Faculty of Pharmacy. She is the Head of Department of Pharmaceutical Technology in Faculty of Pharmacy Hacettepe University and The Chair of IPTS 2014 since July 2012.Her main research areas are formulation of micro/nanoparticulate drug delivery systems, controlled drug delivery, formulation of biodegradable drug delivery systems for biomedical applications, dendrimer based active drug targeting systems, studies on antibiotic, anticancer and anti-inflammatory drugs for preparing implantable systems, development of drug delivery systems for orthopoedic applications and supervised thesis concerning medical devices.She has over 70 peer reviewed full articles, book chapters and over 100 published proceedings and abstracts. Prof ÇALIŞ has completed numerous international and national projects and still carrying out as project coordinator. She has awards taken from Hacettepe University Senate and awards from Industry and Technopolis of Hacettepe University. She was a consultant of Turkish Ministry of Health, General Directoriate of Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy in Commitees of Generic, Bioavailability and Bioequivalance, and New Drug Applications. She is a member of various professional Societies and served as a member in Executive Committees of some. She has worked actively in Organizing Committees of various International Meetings including IPTS. She is currently head of Animal Ethics Committee of Hacettepe University and consulting The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey-TÜBİTAK national projects and R&D Centers as an inspector on the behalf of Republic of Turkey Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology.
