Selected Research

1. Consumption rate of -Si-H groups during setting of polyvinyl siloxane impression materials. Chronopoulos V., Doukoudakis A., Iliades G. The research work took place in the Biomaterials Laboratory at the School of Dentistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
2. Fixed / Removable Partial Denture Combinations for Patients with Small Number of Implants. Clinical study of 15 restorations of particular form and construction. Done in collaboration with Ph. Kamposiora, C. Papavasiliou and S. Silvestros. Presented at the Combined AO, AAOMS, AAP, ACP meeting, Boston 2003. Presented in the category of Clinical Innovations (24 projects worldwide).
3. The use of resin bonded bridges for fixed provisionalization of implant patients. Clinical study of 60 restorations for three years. Done in collaboration with Ph. Kamposiora, C. Papavasiliou and S. Silvestros. Presented at the Combined AO, AAOMS, AAP, ACP meeting, Boston 2003.
4. Guided bone regeneration with barier membranes. A clinical follow-up study after 12 months. Clinical study of guided bone regeneration with 12 months duration membranes. Done in collaboration with Ph. Kamposiora, C. Papavasileiou and S. Silvestros. Presented at the Combined AO, AAOMS, AAP, ACP meeting, Boston 2003.
5. Accuracy of implants impressions for partially and completely edentulous patients- A systematic review. Papaspyridakos P., Chen CJ, Callucci G., Doukoudakis A., Chronopoulos V. The research work took place in the Laboratory of Prosthodontics, Dental School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in collaboration with the Department of Restorative Dentistry of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
6. Multicenter study of immediate loading with fixed prosthodontics restoration, implants placed in the mandible. Responsible researcher: A Doukoudakis. Researchers Partners: Chronopoulos B., Silvestros S. (Pr. No. 32 / 21.11.2005). Sponsored study materials and parts (40.000 € in implants, transmucosal props and accessories). Sponsor Name: Impladent SL, Barcelona, Spain. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Dental School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Integrated in preparation for publication. Conducted in collaboration with the Unit of Osseointegrated Implants and the Graduate Prosthodontics Clinic.
7. Multicenter study placement of short implants as an alternative form of treatment in the open lift soil sinus: Estimation by clinical parameters and cost allocation. Responsible researcher: A  Doukoudakis. Researchers Partners: Chronopoulos B., Silvestros S. (Pr.No. 75 / 18.12.2007). Sponsored study (100.000 € in implants, transmucosal brackets, spare parts and workshop costs). Sponsor Name: Biomet 3i, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, USA. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Dental School,National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Integrated in preparation for publication.
