Biography

Dr. Ellis received his medical degree in 1998 from the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He completed a one-year preliminary internship in internal medicine in 1999 at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and residency training in anesthesiology in 2002 at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minn. He became board certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology in 2004.

He is the director of simulation in the department of anesthesiology and the administrator in the section of anesthesiology at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center. He previously served as a clinical assistant professor of anesthesiology at the University of Nevada School of Medicine for six years and practiced with the Associated Anesthesiologists of Reno for 12 years. He was very involved in teaching and administration, and was instrumental in creating a highly regarded and competitive medical student rotation for third- and fourth-year medical students.

He has been actively engaged at the national, state and regional levels as a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Nevada State Society of Anesthesiologists, the Washoe County Medical Society and the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association.

Dr. Ellis served in the U.S. Army Reserve, including service in Operation Desert Storm in 1991. He received the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
