Biography

Nasrallah M. Deraz was born on July 1, 1968 in El-Sharkia, Egypt. He received B. Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Physical Chemistry (Surface Chemistry and Catalysis) in 1990, 1996 and 1999, respectively, from Faculty of Science, Zagazig University, Egypt. In addition, he received Bachelor ̉s in Law in 2005 from Faculty of Law, Zagazig University, Egypt. He joined Physical Chemistry Department, Laboratory of Surface Chemistry and Catalysis, National Research Center, Dokki, Cairo, Egypt, since 1992. He was awarded a Post- doctoral fellowship to Institute of Materials Science, Structure Research, Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany in 2004. He joined Chemistry Department, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, since 2008/2009 till 2012/2013.

Professor Deraz's research focuses on various aspects of the surface chemistry and nano-catalysis. One topic of research is chemistry of nano-structured materials. The second topic is solid- state chemistry. The third topic is surface chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis. The fourth topic is science and technology of gas sensors, ferrites, zeolite and activated clay. Fifth topic is science and technology of environmental and industrial chemistry.

Deraz has published more than 80 papers in refereed journals. He has supervised M.Sc. and Ph.D. thesis in Egyptian universities. He is a member of the various scientific societies. However, he is reviewer for different international scientific journals such as Adsorption Science and Technology, Materials chemistry and physics, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Journal of Analytical and Applied Pyrolysis and Materials Characterization…etc. In addition, Deraz’s papers had cited in many papers in different journals.
