Biography

Naoufel Werghi received PhD in Computer Vision from the University of Strasbourg, ,France, Msc in Instrumentation and Control from the University of Rouen, France, and Principal Engineering Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the National School of Engineering of Monastir.
He has been a Research Fellow at the Division of Informatics in the University of Edinburgh, Lecturer at Department of Computer Sciences in the University of Glasgow, Assistant Professor  in the College of Information technology of the University of Dubai where he founded and headed the Intelligent Information System Research Group.   He has been also a Visiting Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the University of Louisville.  Currently, he is Associate Professor at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in Khalifa University, UAE.
Hi main area of research is image analysis and interpretation where he has been leading several funded projects in the areas of biometrics, data analysis, medical imaging, geometrical reverse engineering, and intelligent systems.  He received the best paper award in the International Conference of Computer Vision, Theory and Applications 2011, and the University-Industry Research Award from the National Research Foundation in UAE, in 2011 and 2013.
He is a regular reviewer of several  journals,  including Computer-Aided Design, IEEE potential, Pattern recognition letters,  and  Optical Engineering.  He has been a committee member in many international conferences. He published more than 80 journal and conference papers. He is a senior member of IEEE society.
