Biography

E. Elmallah is a full professor at the Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta in the areas of broadband and wireless networks architecture, resource management algorithms and protocols, modelling and performance evaluation of networked systems, and combinatorial algorithms for graphs, scheduling and network reliability analysis. Dr. Elmallah obtained Ph.D. in Computing Science from the University of Waterloo (’87), M.Sc. in Com- puting Science from the University of Saskatchewan (’84), and B.Sc. in Computer and Systems Engineering from Alexandria University (’78). He has numerous publications in reputable jour- nals and conferences in various areas of computer networks and combinatorial algorithms. He delivered invited talks to a wide spectrum of audience including academics in the fields of com- binatorial algorithms, computer networks, and modelling and performance evaluation. He is a Foundation Fellow of the Institute of Combinatorics and its Applications and a senior member of the IEEE. He serves/served on the organizing and program committees of numerous inter- national conferences including serving as the General Chair of the 34th IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks (LCN 2009), and the Program Chair of LCN 2008.
