Biography

Walter L. Ellis, PhD, is a professor in the Social Work Department at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. He completed his PhD degree from The Ohio State University in Human sciences. Dr. Ellis earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of New Hampshire. He has expertise in HIV risk-reduction in diverse populations especially among African-American youth and young adults. Dr. Ellis is funded by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health-Epidemiology, Communicable Disease Branch to direct HIV/STD Evidence-Based Intervention Services at Livingstone College.  His primary research interests are in the areas of HIV prevention and the mental health aspects of HIV/AIDS disease.
