Biography

Yasuhiko SUGAWARA, MD, PhD is Associate Professor of Department of Transplantation, Postgraduate School of Medicine at Kumamoto University, Japan since April 2016. Dr. Sugawara has expertise in liver transplantation and liver resection and has operated more than 500 of liver transplantations. Since August 2001 to December 2015, Dr. Sugawara served as an Associate Professor of Artificial organ and transplantation surgery at University of Tokyo School of Medicine in Japan and as a Chief Resident in liver transplantation surgery at the Department of Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery, National Cancer Center in Tokyo, Japan since April 1997 to December 1998. He has supported the research in establishment of therapy for chronic hepatitis C patients co-infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
