Biography

Dennis M. Popeo MD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, graduated Union College before receiving his MD from SUNY Stony Book.  After completing an internship in Internal Medicine and completing his first year of radiology, he left that field to pursue training in psychiatry. He completed a psychiatry residency and a geriatric psychiatry fellowship at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. After fellowship, he stayed on at Sinai and spent three years as the unit chief of the geriatric psychiatry inpatient ward, and three years as Director of the Ambulatory Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic and Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Psychiatry. He then moved to New York University School of Medicine to create an ECT Service at Bellevue Hospital Center. He is board certified in adult psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine.
