Biography

Hong Xian is a Professor of the Department of Biostatistics, Saint Louis University College for Public Health & Social Justice and the Co-director of Clinical Epidemiology Center at the VA St. Louis Health Care System. In his current position, Professor Xian teaches graduate courses in theory of biostatistics, design and analysis in public health and statistical computing. Professor Xian’s primary research areas include longitudinal data analysis, clinical and psychiatric epidemiology, and genetic and environmental risk factors in the etiology of substance abuse and psychiatric disorders. He has authored and co-authored over 115 peer reviewed publications. Professor Xian received postdoctoral training in statistical genetics and psychiatric epidemiology at the Department of Psychiatry, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Before joining Saint Louis University, Professor Xian was an Associate Professor at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and Health Science Specialist at the VA St. Louis Health Care System.

Research Interest

Professor Xian’s primary research areas of interest include longitudinal data analysis, clinical and psychiatric epidemiology, and genetic and environmental risk factors in the etiology of substance abuse and psychiatric disorders.
